The letter
Dear colleagues, After nearly a decade in this office, I'm stepping away at the end of the month. I'm leaving with deep gratitude for the work, the clients, and the people who taught me how to do it. I'll carry what I learned here into whatever comes next, and I'll be better for it. Please know I'm rooting for all of you, always. — G.
The story
My mother said the letter was "too generous, after everything." I told her the letter wasn't for them. The letter was a record I could read in twenty years and recognize the person who wrote it. The other version would have been theirs. This one is mine.
